Tottori Earthquake – Damage Report on Affected Buildings

Tottori Earthquake: Project Report Comparing Conventional Methods and the TNF Method

No Occurrence of Uplift Damage or Similar Issues in Buildings Subjected to “Seismic Intensity 6−”

  1. The ground conditions of this building consist of an upper 8 m sandy soil layer, underlain by an 8 m thick clayey soil layer with N-values of 1–5.
  2. In buildings supported by bearing piles, strong seismic motion acts directly on the structure.
In contrast, for buildings constructed with foundations using the TNF method, it is considered that the intensity of shaking is reduced.
  3. Even when ground settlement occurred, there were absolutely no cases of building uplift or related damage.
